Survey Finds Nearly Half of Consumers Fail To Upgrade Software Regularly And One Quarter of Consumers Don't Know Why To Update Software

Skype, Norton and TomTom kick off International Technology Upgrade Week

There's an old joke that the most popular day to start a diet is "tomorrow." It's a favorite refrain for anyone who's put an important task off. It can be like that when you're prompted to update your software; you're logging onto your computer and a notice suddenly appears on your screen telling you to update this, that, or the other thing. We know that the prompts to update can seem like a nag, and you might wonder why you need to do it if your software is working just fine.
This is why Skype, together with other top brands in consumer technology, are supporting International Technology Upgrade Week. Beginning July 23rd, Skype, together with Norton, Adobe and TomTom, is spreading the word about why it's important to keep your software in top condition - access to cool new features and ensuring you have the latest security updates being chief reasons.

Throughout International Technology Upgrade Week, we will provide helpful content about the benefits of upgrading, as well as tips and tricks to make sure that your software is operating at peak performance. Our engineers work incredibly hard to provide the best user experience for you, and it would be a shame to miss out. We'll also show you how we're working to make upgrading as easy as turning your computer on, making those little reminders a thing of the past.

As part of International Technology Upgrade Week, we surveyed consumers in the UK, U.S. and Germany to learn more about their behaviors and attitudes related to regular software updates. Below is an infographic that summarizes our findings. We hope it encourages you to update your own software so you can get access to new features and peak performance from the applications and devices you're using.
