Edelman Privacy Risk Index Powered By Ponemon

Privacy risks are at an all time high, presenting a significant challenge for businesses.

Businesses are struggling to manage the privacy practices that most contribute to risk.
The Edelman Privacy Risk Index (ePRI) helps organizations around the world, better understand security and privacy risk and its impact on corporate reputation. Consumers want to know what´s happening to their data and have expectations about how their privacy is managed.
The ePRI was developed in partnership with the Ponemon Institute and is the first global index to compare the level of privacy risk being faced by organizations in 29 different countries with responses from 6,400 risk managers, security professionals and IT Pros.

The Edelman Privacy Risk Index reveals:
  • Lack of Emphasis: Over half (57%) of respondents think their organization does not consider privacy and the protection of personal information to be a corporate priority and six out of ten (61%) companies do not strictly enforce all levels of compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Lack of Resources: Meanwhile, 62% say their organization does not have the expertise or technology and 55% say they do not have adequate resources to effectively protect personal information.
  • Lack of Transparency: Over half (57%) of respondents believe their company is not transparent about what it does with employee and customer information and 61% are slow to respond to consumer and regulator complaints about privacy.[i]
